Would this free us from the confines of the awful tyrant, Mediacom?

Information infrastructure is required to have an information economy. I'd love cheap access to high-bandwidth connectivity. Our area is reasonably stable, geographically, and could be a great place to host applications.

We came up with a $150,000 proposal for free wifi between Centennial and Arsenal bridges, and the riverfront to 6th Avenue in Davenport. Other proposals were 1/4 the coverage for 4 times the price. Why *don't* we have that? It's attainable, it's fundable, and it would put the QC on the map.

Forget about monitizing everything. Our company will donate the support. We have an ISP to donate the bandwidth. We even posted the idea on the Pepsi Refresh project website. I guess no one here is online.
  • If we look at fiber optic internet as another means of "transportation," the QC is uniquely situated to take advantage. Just two hours from Chicago, with ready access to the Mississippi River, rail lines and interstate highways, the addition of easily available high speed internet would be a potential economic boom to the area, merging traditional transportation modes with the internet highway.
